1911
The first census recording the houses was taken in 1911, so these were probably the first tenants of the house.
- Emma Elizabeth Roberts, head, widow, 63, ---, born Coalbrookdale in Shropshire. (nee Wilkinson, widow of Henry)
- Richard Henry Roberts, son, 39, master mariner, born ?.
- Sydney Edwin Roberts, son, 28, wood carver, born Acocks Green.
1918
On the 1918 absent voters list, the following usual resident of 26 Kingsley Road was:
Richard Henry Roberts (Hormley Grange Mer Ship)
He was serving in World War I.
26 Kingsley Road was the Groundskeeper's cottage in the 1930s, and possibly after and before (more research is needed); the Groundskeeper being Arthur Withers. In the 1920s, it is possible that Sydney Roberts acted as groundskeeper or had another local role, as other members of the Roberts family were active on the estate, such as Percy William Roberts (Sydney's older brother) who was secretary and rent collector in the 1930s, and lived at 54 Kingsley Road (c.1911-c.1920) and 51 Kingsley Road (c.1930-c.1950).
